Nutrimetics calling

I found this cute beauty case a while ago in my favourite op shop. It's from Nutri-Metics and must be fairly old as the modern brand is no longer spelled with a hyphen. It has snap buttons on the inside so the whole case unfolds to reveal a mirror and little plastic pockets to hold products.

Nutrimetics case
This case is a more recent find and is larger than the beauty case. I imagine a Nutrimetics lady would have used this to cart around her products door to door. It's currently sitting empty on my shelf as I'm kind of stumped as to what to store in it. What would you use it for? Some of you are probably thinking this has turned into another of my 'collections' BUT (!) my rule is that two's company and three's a collection. Although if I sit them together on my shelf I'm sure one day they will undoubtedly spawn and become a collection...

Winter woolies

Even though it's so warm I can't help beginning to think about winter and wearing wonderful layers and tights and boots. These two jumpers are tucked away in my cupboard waiting for the weather to cool down so they can make an appearance...

I got this cute kind of cable knit red jumper with little stitched flowers for only $1 off the op shop's 'reduced' wrack. I was just thinking that it's kind of odd for op shops to have such wracks considering they're so cheap already, but when you look at the prices of clothing at some stores it's another story! I also got the coffee coloured jumper below with flower motif for $2.50 half price :)

I think these will look really cute with a collared shirt poking out and have been keeping my eye out for some with peter pan collars (no luck yet!). Also on the lookout for a detachable leopard print collar and have spotted some on etsy that look nice. What are you looking forward to wearing this winter? Or if you're already in winter share some of your favourite pieces :)

Itsy bitsy, teeny weeny, yellow polka dot...

Well this is neither itsy bitsy, teeny weeny, polka dot or in any way a bikini, but is a gorgeous yellow vintage bathing suit I found at the op shop for $4. It has a skirted lower half, frills along the neckline and a low scoop at the back; so lovely! I wish it were itsy bitsy but unfortunately it's way too big for me. I'm holding onto it though because I think it would look nice as a wall display in my future house/multi-million dollar beach shack. I did buy some new bathers but I can tell you they cost a lot more than $4! I bought a fifties style black boyleg one piece with pink rose print and a halter neck. I haven't had a chance to wear it yet as the weather's been a wea bit hot for my liking and I don't fancy burning to a crisp!

Ta da!

I can now officially reveal my new blog layout! Let me take you on a tour... Above you will see my new blog header (and appreciate the lovely rounded corners which took me forever to get right!) and notice a little suitcase that has replaced the blogger bookmark icon. To your right are three buttons where you can contact me through my new email address, peruse links to some nifty thrifty blogs, and view my semi-completed op shop map.

Below this I've added a mug shot and short bio which, upon clicking, will take you to the destination of my blogger profile. Continuing further south we have links to bloglovin' and my newly created twitter account where I plan to post pictures of weird and wonderful items I come across during my op shopping ventures that are just a bit too weird, and not wonderful enough, to take home (once I figure out how to do that from my mobile haha). I've also transferred my photos over to flickr so they can be viewed in the one spot if you want to have a look.

The layout isn't displaying perfectly in internet explorer (ie. you can't see the suitcase favicon and the sidebar and main section are not the same length) and I would like to fix this up at some stage and add a few more little tweaks, but for now I really need to get stuck into some thesis work! In the meantime, I would love to know what you think of the new layout and what else you would like to see on my blog.

PS. I found the pixie in a box of stuff during a declutter. I think he's cute and kind of retro looking; reminds me of a character out of Enid Blyton's the Magic Faraway Tree :)
